February Lady Sweater project

So I've started on my February Lady Sweater... cast on Saturday, March 28th, let's see how long this takes me...

I've actually made more progress than what is shown here but haven't taken pictures yet...

I did a buttonhole, very exciting and my Make 1 increases are going very well! I'll post again further along the way. Wish me luck!!

Dylan's Recorder Review

The third grade had their Recorder Concert on Friday, March 27th. I was able to take a half day off from work to catch the show. Dylan was so excited I was able to make it. The concert's theme was Rock and Roll through the Years. Some songs they learned were Hound Dog, Rockin' Robin, Roll Over Beethoven and Blowin' in the Wind. I was able to record a little using my digital camera. They all did great!

2nd Pair of Socks — DONE!

Ta-da! Here they are... my second sock project is done! Yay! Made with Red Heart's Heart & Sole with Aloe yarn, color is Mellow Stripe, generously donated by my friend Melissa P. from her stash. The stripes almost line up perfectly. They feel great, of course it's getting a bit warm in Texas to wear mostly wool socks but they are super cute!

Now, on to the next pair...S-Girl has requested that hers be next in line, at least she has small feet, so they shouldn't take as long, umm, right??!!

Also going to start the February Lady Sweater
This will be a new challenge! Haven't started to cast on yet, still reviewing the stitches I will need to know...stay tuned!

Jen's Book

A friend of mine turned 40 recently and I decided to come up with something really cool and special for her. With all the craft blogs out there I found just what I wanted to make, well sort of, here is the inspiration...

My gift ended up like this...

My favorite part of the book was at the back, we made some faux photo booth style pictures of friends and stuck those in there.

I found poems and quotes that I liked and thought she would too and put those in there with some fun pictures I found online. Random things like old photos and old advertisements. Stickers and ribbon to add texture. Some little envelopes made the perfect spot for the gift cards I got from places I know she likes. It was a fun project and she loved it!

Happy Birthday Jennifer!!

Photo fun

Found a neat site today, Picnik.com

You can do neat stuff to your own photos, it's free, you can sign up but you don't have to, sort of like quick Photoshop stuff for those that don't have the program. I made this really quick picture...
I used the Double Processed feature and the Polaroid frame. Go check it out!

Some knitting fun...

OK, this first one is of the cowl I made. Super easy pattern made with circular needles. I liked this maroon color and I have added it to a simple t-shirt top when it's cold. Don't care for the feel of this yarn on my neck though, kind of itchy and it sheds some small threads from the yarn, which makes it look like you've rolled around with a cat by the end of the day!

Now for the latest sock project...my knitting friend and guru "Mo" gave me some of her stash to make some socks, I loved this yarn because of the bright, fun colors so I started with it. I'm liking the very small needles I get to use, I think these are size 2. I started these before we went to Austin, which was Feb. 21st, just to keep a time-line, sort of. I turned the heel this last weekend, Feb. 28th/Mar. 1st.

And this photo is from today, finished the heel decrease and moving on to the foot part, got about 5 in. to go before I decrease to the toe part. Small stitches take a long time to see that you are getting somewhere. It's coming out really neat, all the stripes! The yarn does that on it's own but you could do similar striping using different color yarns. I'll post the final when it's done...then I have to make it's twin!!
