Pigeon Story

OK, driving home from work yesterday I took the old route that I used to take home and as I approached the first light on the feeder road, a car a head of me sped up to catch the light and as they went through it I saw a poof of feathers... I knew immediately what happened, the car had hit a bird. I've seen it before, I think I've even hit one on the Toll road, but this time I had to slowly roll up to the intersection and sit there while this poor thing flopped and bobbed around on the pavement. It was a sad scene. The other birds in his group flew down and looked to be encouraging him to "get up!", or "fly, dude, fly!!" They took turns, dodging other cars moving through the intersection to go down near the injured bird, but none of them could help. They all then flew up and sat on the light pole and watched. All the cars around seemed to see it and avoid it.

Then I thought of the Seinfeld episode with George and the Pigeons...

Jerry Seinfeld: You ran over some pigeons? How many?
George Costanza: Whatever they had.

George Costanza: Miranda thinks I'm a butcher, but - it's not my fault, is it? Don't we have a deal with the pigeons?
Jerry Seinfeld: Of course we have a deal: They get out of the way of our cars; we look the other way on the statue defecations.

Seinfeld episodes always make me laugh.

I hope the pigeon had a good life and is now some place special!

Another Movie...left this one out!

Forgot to add in this movie. I hadn't seen it before, just never got around to watching it! Must Love Dogs with John Cusack and Diane Lane. It was funny, some great lines, made me laugh.
Check it out if you haven't seen it!

Valentine's Day Weekend

Our weekend was low key, which is good because we are about to launch on the Soccer/Baseball/Soccer spring season. Dylan is playing Eclipse Soccer and Sienna Storm Baseball. Sydney will be back with the Purple Pumas playing soccer in Sienna. Dylan had a playoff basketball game on Saturday, his team won. I got out of the house to go to the game and then again on Sunday to go to the grocery store, other than that I stayed in and did some cleaning (laundry mostly) and just hanging out watching some movies. With it being Valentine's Day weekend there were lots of mushy love story movies on so I caught a few. Here are some of what I watched...

Antonio Banderas, ooh la la! I didn't know this was based on a true story, I liked it.

Along Came Polly, have seen this a few times, still funny!

Bridget Jones, Edge of Reason, for a sequel I thought this was cute. Have seen this before too but it's still funny. Her singing Madonna in the Thai prison was fun.
"I truly believe that happiness is possible... even when you're thirty-three and have a bottom the size of two bowling balls. " - Bridget Jones

All in all, a great weekend. Roses, chocolates, dinner and all the lounging around I could stand, it was great! Now the week starts with soccer practices for both kids on the same night, 30mins. apart at two different locations, then a basketball practice that D has to run because he's the assistant coach, yee haw! Here we go!

1st Eclipse Soccer club tournament

Dylan played in his first soccer tournament with the Lunar Eclipse 00 team this past weekend. His team did great. Dylan scored a goal in the first game, we were all very excited. They won 2, tied 1 and lost in the Championship game. His team came home with a medal and all had a great time. Emmy and Paw Paw came out to watch as well as Uncle Daniel. Aunt Christa, Uncle Gary and Gavin got to see the Championship game as they were out there for the tournament, Gavin playing in the U14 league for Premier Soccer Club. Here are some photos...

Socks

I challenged myself to knit something more difficult...a sock! Using a helpful book from Patons and some advice from my knitting friend Melissa P., I was able to make these!!

Going to try some different yarn and make some more. Sydney has already asked for a pair!
I recently made a cowl also but don't have a photo of it just now. So many projects, so little time! (sigh)
